  75. 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
  76.  
  77.     A.  Regulatory Requirements:  Products shall comply with
  78.         federal, state, and local volatile organic compounds
  79.         (VOC) regulations.
  80.  
  81.     B.  Mock-Ups:  Provide sealer-primer material for mock-ups
  82.         specified in affected sections.
  83. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if not required.
  84.  
  85.     C.  Pre-Installation Meeting:
  86.         1.  Convene at job site seven (7) calendar days prior to
  87.             scheduled beginning of construction activities of
  88.             this section to review requirements of this section.
  89.         2.  Require attendance by representatives of the

  91.             a.  Sealer-primer manufacturer.
  92.             b.  Installer of this section.

  98. 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  99.  
  100.     A.  Store products of this section in manufacturer's unopened
  101.         packaging until installation.
  102.  
  103.     B.  Maintain storage area conditions for products of this
  104.         section in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
  105.         until installation.
  106.  
  107. 1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS
  108.  
  109.     A.  Do not apply sealer-primers to surfaces below 50 degrees
  110.         F (10 degrees C) or above 95 degrees F (48 degrees C)
  111.         unless recommended by the manufacturer.
  112.  
  113.     B.  Do not apply sealer-primer when rain is predicted within
  114.         24 hours or less than 1 day after surface has been wet.
  115.  
  116.     C.  Do not apply sealer-primer in high or gusty winds.
  117.  
  118. 1.8 WARRANTY
  119.  
  120.     A.  Special warranties:  Contractor and installer of this
  121.         section shall jointly and individually warrant sealer-
  122.         primer installation against failure due to incorrect
  123.         application for a period of 5 years from the date of
  124.         Substantial Completion.
  125.  
  126.     B.  Manufacturer's warranty:  Manufacturer's limited warranty
  127.         against failure of sealer-primer installation due to
  128.         failure of sealer-primer material for a period of 5 years
  129.         from the date of Substantial Completion.

  132. PART 2  PRODUCTS
  133.  
  134. 2.1 MANUFACTURERS
  135.  
  136.     A.  Acceptable Manufacturer:  SEAL-KRETE, Inc.; 306 Gandy
  137.         Road, Auburndale, FL 33823- 1527. ASD. Tel: (800) 323-
  138.         7357 or (941) 967-1535, Fax: (941) 965-2326.
  139. NOTE ** Delete one of the two following paragraphs;
  140.         coordinate with Division 1 requirements.

  142.     B.  Requests for substitution will be considered in
  143.         accordance with provisions of Section 01600.
  144.  
  145.     C.  Substitutions:  Not permitted.

  147. 2.2 MATERIALS
  148.  
  149.     A.  Sealer-Primer:  SEAL-KRETE Waterproofing Sealer.
  150.         1.  Characteristics:  Clear, non-staining, waterborne
  151.             acrylic-base penetrating sealer-primer containing no
  152.             VOC's (volatile organic compounds) or petroleum
  153.             distillates.
  154.         2.  Performance requirements:
  155.             a.  Resistance to water penetration:  Minimum rating
  156.                 of Excellent, when tested according to FS TT-P-
  157.                 0035, modified using 4 by 8 by 16 inch (100 by
  158.                 200 by 400 mm) concrete block, at equivalent of
  159.                 98 mph (158 km/h) wind speed.
  160. NOTE ** Verify actual performance value for the following
  161.         with the manufacturer.
  162.             3.  Resistance to water penetration:  No more than
  163.                 ____ dampness appearing on back of wall specimen,
  164.                 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 514 for 4
  165.                 hours.
  166.             a.  Comply with Florida Department of Transportation
  167.                 Specification 926-16 for Type "O" Compounds,
  168.                 Florida DOT Method FM5-518.
  169. NOTE ** Verify actual performance value for the following
  170.         with the manufacturer.
  171.             b.  Water vapor transmission:  ____ perms (____
  172.                 metric perms), maximum, when tested in accordance
  173.                 with ASTM D 1653.
  174.             c.  Corrosion resistance:  No visible degradation of
  175.                 film after 48 hours, when subjected to sodium
  176.                 hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride
  177.                 (salt), and chlorine.
  178.             d.  Solids content:  10 percent, minimum.
  179.             e.  Flammability:  Non-flammable.
  180.             f.  Toxicity:  USDA approved for application to
  181.                 surfaces where there is possibility of contact
  182.                 with food.
  183. NOTE ** Verify the actual performance values for the
  184.         following three properties with the manufacturer.
  185.             g.  Tensile strength:  ___ psi (___ kPa), when tested
  186.                 in accordance with _____.
  187.             h.  Freeze/thaw stability:  ____, when tested in
  188.                 accordance with _____.
  189.             i.  Mechanical stability:  _____, when tested in
  190.                 accordance with _____.

  195.                 maximum, after 312 hours of testing in accordance

  211. PART 3  EXECUTION
  212.  
  213. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  214.  
  215.     A.  Verify that substrates to receive sealer-primer are in
  216.         accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  217.  
  218. 3.2 PREPARATION
  219.  
  220.     A.  Protect adjacent surfaces to prevent accidental
  221.         application to surfaces not indicated to receive sealer-
  222.         primer; remove accidental applications from surfaces
  223.         immediately, following manufacturer's instructions.
  224. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if no existing
  225.         surfaces to be coated in project.
  226.  
  227.     B.  Preparation of existing surfaces:
  228.         1.  Remove loose or deteriorated materials, including,
  229.             but not limited to, scale, spalling, paint, or other
  230.             coatings.
  231.         2.  Clean with detergent-based materials, as recommended
  232.             by manufacturer's instructions; cleaning with solvent-
  233.             based or oil-based cleaners is prohibited.
  234.  
  235. 3.3 APPLICATION
  236.  
  237.     A.  Apply sealer-primer in accordance with manufacturer's
  238.         instructions for indicated project conditions; for multi-
  239.         coat applications, allow specified curing time between
  240.         subsequent coats.
  241.  
  242.     B.  Addition of materials to sealer-primer is prohibited,
  243.         except as recommended by manufacturer.
  244. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if specifying
  245.         pigmented water repellent application only.
  246.  
  247.     C.  Apply non-pigmented sealer-primer to the following
  248.         surfaces:
